Using a custom font can be a serious problem if you are preparing your projects for external computers because the font of your slide can fail to communicate with your target audience. Thus, before selecting a font for your presentation make sure that your slides look the same on a different machine so that every viewer can avail the same appearance.

In this article, we will talk about how to avoid problems with your slides when you are preparing them for external computers.

5. Be Careful About While Choosing Fonts

1. Provide Custom Fonts

If you are preparing slides on an external computer, you can work with custom fonts along with your presentation. However, before using custom fonts in your presentation, make sure the fonts are commonly installed in other systems.

If you want to share your presentation with the people in other organization, then you should not force them to install additional software for fonts, because they may not be able to install any additional software due to IT restrictions.

2. Convert Custom Font to Image

You can use your custom font in many ways. If you are working with a custom font for a few places, then you will be able to convert text into an image. The process of transforming text into an image is very easy and even a non-professional can execute the task. You will have to just copy the text box and when you have to paste it at your desired place; you will find your text as an image.

3. Insert Custom Font

While using Microsoft PowerPoint, you will have the chance to insert the custom fonts, since the software will provide you the option. However, among the plenty of advantages, you will be able to encounter a drawback for this approach, as the practice of embedding the custom fonts can significantly enlarge the PowerPoint file size. However, working with too many large files can force you to use Dropbox or any other file-sharing tool. Professionals are aware of the fact that inserting the custom fonts can add hassle in the process and make them confused about the fact of how other people will be able to see their presentation.

4. Avoid Custom Fonts if Needed

If you are working on a different computer and are aware of the fact that your presentation will share PPTX files externally, then you may think about avoiding the use of custom fonts or corporate fonts. The most important thing about using fonts is that you should express your thoughts effectively so that other people can understand what you are trying to tell them.

5. Be Careful About While Choosing Fonts

You should be very careful while using custom fonts for your presentation, especially for the corporate power slides. You cannot assume that every computer in an organization will have the same fonts available on your computer. For example, Myriad Pro is a font, which is not designed by Microsoft and if you use such fonts for your project, you may put other employees in a bit of trouble.

However, a few fonts can be common among the team you are associated with, but the fact is that the font might not have been used by the rest of organization or teams working outside your company. Thus, if possible, try to use widely available Microsoft Office fonts so that your presentation can be read by a wide range of users.
