Love these domain names? Sweet, simple, and awesome, isn’t it?

Have you ever wanted to create a superb and mind-blowing domain name like this?

Yes, now you can.

The domain name is an essential part of the website. It reflects the website’s branding values and is important to survive in the Internet world. The visitors and readers get an image of your blog by hearing the name itself.

But, often people don’t often focus much on domain names. All they want to do is do their hands-on blogging without proper planning. A blog is more like a newborn child. You have to choose a cool and awesome name for it. Sometimes, domain names become so important, that it determines the success or failure of a website.

So, here’s a jubilant guide on how to choose an awesome domain name.

How to Choose an Awesome Domain Name

#1 Get a .com Domain

In the world of various domain extensions from .net to .com to .org, we sometimes don’t get the domain names we want. Instead of getting away, many prefer to go with the same domain name but a different extension. For instance, instead of using the .com domain, use the .org domain. Have a look at the domain names listed above. 3 out of 4 domains have extensions of .com.

If you have a non .com extension, you have to compete with websites with .com extensions. Wonder why?

It’s because if anyone wants to go to your website, let’s say XYZ.org, and mistyped it for XYZ.com he would be taken to another website, leading you to a loss of visitors.

#2 Short and Easy

Your domain name should be as short as possible. It would help others to remember your domain name easily, so they can visit your website again. Getting an easy name ensures that the chances of mistyping the domain name are quite low, and they won’t be redirected to any other website.

And, especially your readers and visitors might not have so much time to type, type, and type your domain name. It is highly preferred that you should go for a short domain name. But, finding a short domain is quite hard. You have to bring in your thoughts, thinking, and imagination to find a short domain.

Also, your domain name should be such that it can be easy to guess.

#3 No Numbers

Though Numbers are considered magical in the blogosphere, they might well land some heavy problems. It can create misunderstanding and create a different image in their minds. ‘4’ and Four are quite different. While we frequently use ‘4’ as ‘for’ in social networking, using it in blogging might prove fatal. As users won’t get it if it is the number (four) or (for).

#4 Use globally known words

Around the globe, there are different languages—Latin, English, Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit, and so on.. what might mean dog in one language might mean something else in some other, which might land you again in a fiasco.

It might need you to go through the Oxford Dictionary, but it would help you a lot.

#5 Unique and Awesome

There are over 1 billion+ websites over the world, is your domain name unique from others’?

Well, it’s generally observed that bloggers go for names synonymous with top blogs. No, not completely, but the characters are observed in a different manner.

Try to be unique and have a professional-sounding name. After being successful, you will find that people copying your domain names :p

As you live your own life and not others. Similarly, blog in your style, you don’t need to copy anybody. Your style would itself be copied by others!

    Hey Sayantan,

I have to definitely disagree with you here my friend. Their domain names aren’t exactly what made them the most popular at all. It’s what they shared and how they built their sites that lead them to becoming more of a household name with people online.

I didn’t get the dot com extension and although I’m not of those sites caliber I’m not doing too darn shabby. The domains are important, I’m definitely not disagreeing with you there, but the domain name alone is not what makes or breaks the site. It’s the people, what they share, their community and their products. It’s all wrapped up into one.

      Hello Adrienne,

How I wish that I should have thought that way! Building up the brand is important. I agree. But domain names are important too. As, if someone chooses a domain name with more than 30 characters, readers would get exhausted typing that. And, eventually getting away from the blog.

      Thanks,
      Sayantan

    Hello Sayantan Mahato 🙂 🙂

It’s been quite an useful post for all the ones who are struggling hard to find a domain name for my site.Even i struggled a lot to opt one. Finally ended up successfully some how. As you said the domain name must be short and simple. One tip is that its should be catchy even though if it does not have any proper meaning.Do you agree with this? . I said this because of the fact that i have seen several renowned websites domain names literally don’t make a meaning yet they are too catchy. I believe that the words we choose should be truly fascinating too 🙂 🙂
