Most of the time, bathrooms are one of the important parts of our homes, and, little did we know, we actually store a lot of things in there more than just the shower and the toilet. Bathrooms are also necessary for our daily routines. From the moment you wake up in the morning until before you go to bed, your bathroom is an integral part of your day-to-day life. And, despite what the name says, it’s more than just for taking a bath.

However, not everyone is lucky to have enough spaces in their bathrooms for storage and not everyone can do remodeling. If you are living in a small apartment, condo, or flat, and you are tired of squeezing your medicines and personal hygiene kit in one cabinet, this blog is for you. Here are some bathroom storage ideas that can help separate your makeup kits from your toiletries.

1. Medicine Cabinets

It’s necessary to have a cabinet dedicated to your pills, vitamins, daily beauty regimen, etc. One of the smartest ways to save space is to have a cabinet that has a mirror on the door and hang it above the sink. In that way, you will have a vanity space and a storage cabinet in one.

2. Hanging and fixture cabinets

There is a weird misconception that the top part of a toilet should be empty. That’s not entirely right. If you don’t have enough space to store a floor cabinet, you can install hanging cabinets and shelves to store your toiletries such as toilet paper, stored soaps and shampoos, and more. This can also function as a towel cabinet. With this, you won’t need to use up all the floor space.

3. Wall Shelves

Another way of saving up your bathroom floor space is to utilize shelves. These shelves are ideal for small items that you will immediately need. Since shelves do not have a door, it will be easier for you to grab those items when you need them. It’s ideal for storage of usable soap, shampoo, and conditioner, or for anything that you use for self-care such as makeup, toothbrush, etc. Or can have an organized shelf for your grooming supplies, too!

4. Floor Cabinets and Racks

Now, if you have a bit of space in your bathroom, you can consider having floor cabinets and racks. It’s ideal to have an additional cabinet in the bathroom to store decorative and functional items such as guest towels, candles, etc.

5. Vanity Cabinet

If you have extra wall space, you can also consider having vanity cabinets. This is ideal if you are living with someone and you wanted to make sure that your personal hygienic items are separated. You can have two vanity cabinets or one that has a divider in the middle to store your toothbrush or makeup. There are bathroom vanity closets where it has bottom storage for towels and other personal care items such as hair dryers. This is beneficial too if you have an extra space in the corner to put it in.

6. Shower Caddies

Did you know that you can actually install a small cabinet with a drawer beside your tub or shower for your shower needs? It’s very stylish and economical. Not that it saves so much space, it also serves its function and organizes your stuff at the same time.

7. Stylish Baskets and Boxes

Instead of having a tacky hamper, you can have decorative baskets and boxes in your bathroom. You can choose between covered or open baskets. But it’s not just for your dirty laundry. You can also use baskets as a storage box for your towels or toilet paper for a more elegant yet functional design.

8. Hooks and Racks

If you want your bathroom to look wider or with less furniture, you can never go wrong with racks and hooks. It still comes in handy when storing linens, robes, and towels. You can have a metal storage rack in the corner for your soap, shampoos, and loofah without taking too much space in the bathroom. The only downside for choosing hooks and racks is that your belongings are exposed and you cannot guarantee the weight it can carry.

When choosing the right cabinets and storage ideas for your bathroom, it’s necessary to always consider the space, the people who will use it, and the frequency of it being used. For example, if you have kids at home, there’s a chance that you will use it more often. Hence, get cabinets and storage that are readily accessible, perhaps shelves or baskets. If you are living alone and spend most of the day at work, consider having cabinets with doors or hanging shelves with locks.

At the end of the end, it’s necessary to keep your bathroom in order. It’s nice to start and end your day with a clean, organized bathroom where you can easily access everything that you need.
