It’s always exciting to see your app gaining traction with users because in order to achieve app success you have to have a large number of downloads. However, it can also be difficult to know exactly what the user experience is like for certain sections of your app because you are not able to sit right next to each and every one of the users who download your app. One way you can find out without being next to each user is through a process called user engagement tracking. This is a very important part of getting people’s attention to interact with your app. Let’s take a look at a few ways you can track engagement for your app using tools like Google Analytics.

1. Create a Conversion Funnel

The first step to tracking user engagement is to create a conversion funnel. This funnel will be able to show you what users experience and ultimately click on throughout your app. This can be as simple as tracking the web page the user lands on, but it doesn’t have to be. You can also use the funnel to track the next series of steps users take in. Tracking these steps helps you get a better understanding of what users are doing.

2. CRM for Saas Startups

You can also use CRM for Saas startups to track user engagement. This tool is more on the advanced side of technology and is used to view and manage CRM data and can be accessed at your company’s account page. There are many ways this tool can be used but one of the main ways tech companies use this is to be able to track open email rates and clickthrough different rates within their apps.

3. Implement Your Funnel

Implementing your conversion funnel for user engagement is fairly straightforward and fairly easy if you know what you’re doing. You can easily put this into place with tools like Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica. Just make sure you start with a high-level, long-form funnel diagram and then add depth as needed. To learn how to get started with Google Analytics or any other tool, try watching an informational video on YouTube to help perfect the process or asking someone who is an expert in this field.

4. Analytics Dashboard

Once you have gotten your funnel into place, you should then get an analytics dashboard to track all of the funnel results. There are several great dashboards out there that get designed to show you engagement opportunities. The most commonly used tools are MixPanel, KissMetrics, and Firebase. You can use these tools to display key metrics for your app’s user engagement, including email opens and clickthroughs. This way, you can easily see if users are engaging with the app and what sections they are reaching.

5. Create a Mobile App

Creating a mobile app is a great way to add an extra layer of engagement with your users. Having an app can allow you as the owner to have direct communication with your users. You can add features that will help engage your users on the go and save money along the way. Tracking user engagement on a mobile phone can be a little different than tracking it on a desktop. Having an app can also allow you to have a unique way of providing a service that your users will enjoy if executed properly.

Conclusion

User engagement is and always will be a big deal for any company but especially a company that owns an app. It can end up being a key piece to your app’s success in the long run. You have a few good options listed here if you want to track user engagement across your app and improve things for the company on your end. Some of the most popular ones that have been stated previously are Google Analytics, CRM for Saas startups, and MixPanel. You are even allowed to track user engagement based on different sections of your app. It’s important to make sure you start tracking user engagement with a high-level funnel diagram and then add depth throughout the process as it is needed.
