The following article has been inspired by the thoughts of Mr. Mayank Srivastava. He is the Founder of Experts’ Global, one of the world’s leading EdTech firms in the field of GMAT prep and MBA admission consulting.

Education Technology, more commonly called EdTech or EduTech, could very well change how we disseminate education. It may seem that technology already dominates the education landscape, but the truth is that the potential of EdTech has only just begun to be realized. EdTech will prove to be an especially useful tool in countries; such as India that have severe cultural, economic, and geographic disparities. Here are some of the ways that we can expect Indian EdTech to evolve, over the next few years.

The Adoption of Adaptive Learning

As every student has a different learning speed for each subject, each student has a unique set of learning requirements. Educators have long since been aware of this fact, but it is not practical for them to make a different learning module for each student. So, all of the students end up getting the same training, regardless of what their individual needs are. EdTech solutions can provide an answer to this dilemma. They can adapt the training to the student’s needs, by analyzing their performance.

Greater Inclusion of Instructional Videos

Video lectures are one of the most basic types of EdTech. Many educators already make use of video lectures, albeit, in an informal capacity. Soon, however, we will see video lectures included in the syllabi of higher, advanced, and even specialized study institutions. These videos will be prepared by some of the brightest minds in each field. With these students, the classroom model will shift to one where the teacher’s primary task will be to discuss the takeaways of the lectures and work with the students to solidify their understanding of the same.

Freeing Up the Educators

Aside from the lectures, there are many other tasks that educators will be able to hand over to EdTech tools. Day-to-day tasks, such as scheduling and data keeping, will become fully automated. Even grading will eventually be handled by EdTech. Objective answers can already be graded automatically and, with the help of specially designed AI tools, soon subjective answers will be too.

Analytics-Based Career Judgements

If given the proper input, certain types of algorithms can provide a very keen analysis of a person’s skills and interests. This analysis can be very useful in helping people judge the wisdom of their career choices.

Developing Collaborative Tools

It is common knowledge that technology has allowed us to work together, in our leisure activities, more efficiently than ever before. Soon we will see such collaboration, across immense geographic and cultural distances, thanks to a number of specially designed tools.

The Transformation of the Classroom

It would be premature to say that the physical classroom will become obsolete. There are many skills and values that are best taught in a physical setup. Arguably; EdTech will need to be fully adopted by traditional educational systems, to reach its full potential. EdTech will not replace classrooms, though it will change how we see education.
